R&D for high powered lasers

The customer needed a gas tight fan that would continuously pump special gasses (argon or zenon) through the process system. The fan had to withstand and maintain the pressure of the process, had to maintain the purity of the gas stream, and had to be able to preserve a vacuum before the system was filled with gas.

Illinois Blower met the challenge by delivering a hermetically-sealed fan, incorporating a magnetic coupling instead of a traditional shaft seal. The entire fan unit was gas tight, with absolutely zero leakage. The unit was hydrostatically pressure tested and helium leak tested before shipping to confirm complete gas tightness.

The fan performs exceptionally well, and due to the custom-developed magnetic coupling, requires no shaft seal maintenance. Since there are no seals to wear out or leak, the fan provides outstanding dependability and reliability.
